Straight:

The follicle of straight hair is perfectly round as opposed to curly hair’s follicle being oval shaped.  This causes the hair to air dry and fall straight.

Pros:

Brushing your hair is enough to make it look ‘done’

Consistent

Looks neat and tidy

Cons:

Hard to achieve the ‘lived in’ messy Pinterest hair

Roots growing in looks more obvious

Pony tail dents

Wavy:

Pros:

Your hair can be manipulated to be wavy and also smoothed out fairly easy.

Has more volume than straight hair

Beach waves are always in

Cons:

Can be inconsistent

Looks disheveled, not curly not straight.

Curly:

Follicle adopts an oval shape which is different than the perfectly round follicle that creates straight hair. The flatter the oval, the curlier the hair.

Pros: you stand out from the crowd

You can go multiple days without washing

Holds a style very well

Cons: curls tend to be very dry

Requires a lot of product to style

Requires a lot of shine and condition

Fine:

A single strand of your hair is smaller in diameter than sewing thread.

Can have a tendency to break easily and get tangled frequently.

Focus on cleansing, mousses for volume and very small amounts of oils specifically made for fine hair.

Pros:

Fast dry time

Easier to style

Cons: tangles easily

Falls flat

Needs to be washed more frequently

Medium:

A single strand of your hair is about average and close in diameter to sewing thread, not too thick and not to thin.

Pros: generally the easiest texture to work with

Holds style well

Cons: none

Coarse: Coarse refers to the diameter of a single hair strand.  Your hair is coarse when a single hair is as thick as  or thicker than sewing thread

Pros: strong

Holds a blowout for days

Looks bomb

Cons: time consuming to style

Can be heavy and cause headaches

Skinny: Density refers to the amount of hair you have on your head.  The average human has 100,000 hairs on their head, you are average or a little less, so closer to the low average of 81,000

Normal: Density refers to the amount of hair you have on your head.  The average human has 100,000 hairs on their head.  Low is 81,000 and high is 121,000 you are most likely right in the middle.

Full: Density refers to the amount of hair you have on your head.  The average human has 100,000 hairs on their head, you are above average so closer to the high average of 121,000
